A week after calling police with a health problem and being placed under a psychiatric hold, Mischa Barton is "making improvements" and will get back to work, her rep tells PEOPLE. Specific details about the 23-year-old actress's condition were not available but Barton's rep says she is "still seeking treatment" and plans to return to work on the CW show The Beautiful Life, which is scheduled to begin production July 31. Friends have said the former O.C. star is "dealing with personal issues" and has been on "a destructive path" for a while. According to a source, Barton has now left Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where last week she was placed under a psychiatric evaluation, known as a 5150 hold.

After police were called to assist Mischa Barton with a medical issue on Wednesday a rep for the star broke the news to Access Hollywood that Mischa would not be attending the premiere of her new film, “Homecoming,” on Thursday in New York. And now the film’s producer says he has several concerns.
“I found out yesterday right around when it happened because we live in a world of technology where things are immediate,” Bingo Gubelmann told Access at the movie’s premiere. “I was bummed out, and we tried to figure out exactly what was wrong first - [Was] she going to be OK?”
Though Gubelmann was concerned for the actress, he admitted he was worried that Barton being a no-show would hurt the movie’s premiere.
“Selfishly I was like, ‘Oh man! It’s never going to happen! No one is going to show up. [People are] going to come to a premiere with no stars,’” he told Access.
Gubelmann said he has not been in contact with the actress since her incident.
“I haven’t been able to [speak with her,] I think she’s under lock and key right now,” he continued.
Despite Mischa’s recent trouble, Gubelmann said he would indeed cast her again in future projects.
“It was amazing,” he said of his time spent working with the actress on the horror movie. “She was so professional. I would definitely work with her again, no matter what. No matter how this goes down.”
On Thursday a rep for Barton told Access, “Ms. Barton was safely transferred to medical treatment for which she remains hospitalized, as per the recommendation of her doctor.”
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Barton was placed under an involuntary psychiatric hold (also known as a 5150) by the Los Angeles Police Department and transferred to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday evening, a source close to the situation claimed to Access.

A producer on Mischa Barton's new flick Homecoming isn't thrilled she missed the NYC premiere after being involuntarily checked into a psych ward Wednesday.
"It's frustrating. And it's not ideal," Bingo Gubelmann told Usmagazine.com at the Thursday premiere. "It's frustrating, but I'm not going to sit here and trash her because we're young as a company and we've got to live and learn...I don't want to be known as the producer that will turn on any actress at the drop of that hat."
While rolling his eyes, Gubelmann continued that "it's hard to remember" why he chose Barton to star in his indie flick, "because, you know, she's not here right now.
"Now, I haven't spoken to her yet because she's totally unreachable, so I don't know exactly what happened. I mean, I'm not as good at taking the high road a some people and yes, it would obviously be nice if she was here. Even just to hang out," he went on. Gubelmann said Barton didn't seem "at all" unstable while shooting the flick in less than a month, 16 hours a day.
"She did it and she did an amazing job. It's like, maybe she went method and maybe that's what happened!" he said, laughing.
Producer Austin Stark was more sympathetic toward the actress, who required a police escort from her Hollywood Hills home to the hospital. "I think we would have loved to have had her come out and support the movie, [but] you know, we wish her the best and obviously we hope she gets better," he told Us. "Obviously, it's a trying time for her. I mean, obviously we'd like her to be here but I don't think it hurts the movie."
Added producer Benji Cohen: "She's going through a rough patch and she can't be here. And it's really too bad."
Director Morgan J. Freeman told Us: "I hope Mischa is doing OK. My thoughts and prayers are with her. Health first, movie second."
My thoughts: Bingo Gubelmann (producer), you're an idiot - leave Mischa alone during this rough patch in her life!
People magazine reports that police were called to Barton's home at 3 p.m. Wednesday for a "medical issue." The star's rep, Craig Schneider, told People that the LAPD officers were there simply to protect the star:
"Police were involved due to Ms. Barton's celebrity status, to safely transfer her to medical treatment as per doctor's orders," he said, adding that the actress is now "okay and resting." (Police would not confirm Access Hollywood's claim that the actress has been placed under involuntary psychiatric hold at an L.A. hospital.)
According to the CW's Paul McGuire, Barton's upcoming drama The Beautiful Life, which begins production July 22 and premieres Sept. 16, will not be affected by the incident.
16 July 2009,
I spoke with a family representative and confirmed that Mischa Barton was taken to the hospital due to complications from oral surgery.
Contrary to the gossip that has been tweeted by the LA Police and Access Hollywood there was nothing illicit going on as was implied. The surgery involved deep impacted wisdom teeth that had to be removed from her jaw bones.
Her family is with her and she is being treated with antibiotics.
As a rule of thumb, the younger the age of the person having the wisdom teeth extractions the less potential they will have for experiencing complications. Studies have shown that the number of complications, related to both healing as well as the procedure itself, that occur in association with wisdom tooth extractions increases once a patient has passed into their mid to late 20’s.
The pain associated with a dry socket can be moderate to severe in intensity and often has a throbbing component. The pain can be just localized to the extraction site or it may radiate from the extraction site to the patient’s ear or eye (on the same side of their face).
A dry socket, more formally referred to as alveolar osteitis by dentists, is a fairly common complication associated with tooth extractions. The formation of a dry socket involves a scenario where the blood clot which forms in the tooth socket’s after the extraction isn’t properly retained (either it disintegrates by way of fibrinolysis or becomes dislodged). Since this blood clot is an important factor in protecting the boney socket and initiating the healing process, the healing of the extraction site is interrupted and becomes delayed. - rPulse.com

From 'Ask Ausiello':
Question: What the heck has the awesome Melinda Clarke been up to? --Tammy
Ausiello: Big scoop: She's starring in a new TV series as a housewife by day and a spy by night. Unfortunately, the show isn't real; it's part of an upcoming Entourage subplot.
P.S. I've heard that Autumn Reeser (Taylor) is also starring in the new season of Entourage, I will post more detail's about that soon!

Hey O.C fans and loyal visitors. I know that I haven't updated in a while (a long while) and I'm really sorry about that. Who knew that life would get so much more hectic when you're out of school? Well, apparently it does.
I really haven't had much time to update 'Save The OC' in the last few months and I really want to get back into it. It might be one or two updates a week, but I'm definitely going to put the effort back into this site again! I know that The OC will still live on for years to come, and I want this site to live on with it. We're still averaging about 200 visitor's a day, which isn't bad, considering that The OC ended in Feb 2007.
Anyway, hope everyone will continue coming to the site to check up on updates and I'm hoping that a few of the die-hard 'Save The OC' reader's are still out there somewhere...
Thanks again, and sorry about the lack of updates,
Sheldon.
